Yoga for Spring

Activities from Friday 26th March – Sunday 28th March Via Zoom

Please join me to tune into the rising energy and aliveness of Spring for some or all of the activities planned for the weekend 26th-28th March.

Friday 6 – 7.30pm Yin for a Spring Clean

In this Yin class, by easing into the hips and opening into the side-body, we will work closely with the Liver and Gallbladder Meridians, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine, govern the overall healthy flow of energy in the body. Working with these organs can be experienced as deeply detoxifying and refreshing – a little like a spring clean for the whole system.

Cost – Drop-in £8 or as part of a block booking

Saturday 9 – 10.30am Dragon Flow – Yin Yang

This will be an energising & revitalising class – we will remember a few of the Yin poses from Friday evening and then gradually move into a beautiful dancing sequence, originally designed by Paul & Suzi Grilley. We will dance from the ground up, we will dance from the front of our mats to the back and return again, as we explore the movement of energy around our bodies in relation to the space around us. We will then cool down with a few simple Yin poses again. This is one of my all-time favourite sequences to tune into the sap rising at this time of year. It should be a lot of fun.

Cost – Drop-in £8 or as part of a block booking

***Please note that this sequence does require a certain degree of physical fitness.

Sunday 9.30 – 12.30 Breathe, Move & Connect to Life

This will be a sweet and gentle Yoga Workshop in which we will use sound, the breath, meditation and subtle movement practices to explore life’s energy within and around us. The workshop will end with a deliciously relaxing Yoga Nidra. The pace and style of the practices will complement the sessions on Friday and Saturday. We don’t need to be vigorous with our bodies to tap into Spring – sometimes we just need to slow down, listen and connect. This workshop is for anyone – no prior experience of yoga is necessary.

Maybe the following quotation by James Rebanks does a better job of expressing the spirit I’d like to bring into this workshop – Thanks so much to Beccy Whittle for sending me this quotation just when I needed it!

The more I learn about it, the more beautiful our farm and valley becomes... The distinction between me and this place blurs until I become part of it, and when they set me in the earth here, it will be the conclusion of a longer lifelong story of return. The ‘I’ and the ‘me’ fades away, erodes with each passing day, until it is an effort to remember who I am and why I am supposed to matter. The modern world worships the idea of the self, the individual, but it is a gilded cage: there is another kind of freedom in becoming absorbed in a little life on the land. In a noisy age, I think perhaps trying to live quietly might be a virtue.”
